Privacy
Your location is used for the search you request.
Vicinitty does not require an account or include analytics. The application shell may be cached on your device so the interface can open offline. The server may temporarily share a briefing cached for an approximate neighborhood, but it does not persist precise search locations.
If you create an account, the app stores your name, email address, password hash, and saved briefings. Saved briefings are private. Place reviews, your display name, and any review photos you upload are public. Passwords are never stored in plain text, and common photo metadata is removed before photos are stored. You can export your account data or permanently delete your account, saved briefings, reviews, and uploaded photos from the account panel.
Signed-in users may report community reviews. Reports and optional report details are available only to configured moderators and are retained with their resolution unless the related account or review is deleted.
Services used
When you run a search, the location you enter or share may be sent to Google Maps Platform to resolve the area and retrieve nearby places. Approximate coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve the local weather forecast. News and live lookup links may use Google News and Google Search. If the operator configures OpenAI, the location is also included in the briefing request.
Those services process data under their own policies: Google Privacy Policy, Open-Meteo Terms & Privacy, and OpenAI Privacy Policy.
Device permissions
Your browser controls location permission. You can deny or revoke it and use a ZIP code or cross streets instead.
